I grew up in the village of Selkirk in upstate New York, just south of Albany. I started drawing and painting relatively late in life when I was in high school. After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Studio Art at Ithaca College and a Master of Fine Art degree in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I moved back up to the northeast. I currently reside in Norwalk, Connecticut with my husband Adam, my son Griffin and my dog Derby. I live in a charming old home with a large studio above the garage. It is a wonderful, inviting place to paint with a tranquil feeling and a view of the small pond and cave in the back yard. Yes- there really is a cave! I have exhibited extensively in the northeast and in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia. I have had several solo exhibitions with my work finding its way into many private collections from Georgia to New York to Arizona. I have also been commissioned to paint multiple paintings. My work has been featured in many area publications, including an upcoming feature in New Canaan/Darien Magazine slated for February 2007. Inspired by the landscape and the intricacies of natural objects, my abstracts can be both vast and careful observations of magnified views. Although the majority of my paintings are abstract, I continually return to painting more representational landscapes to refuel my color and mark making vocabulary. There is a constant connection to the world I am seeing around me. |
